Street calipers use a "shorter, fatter" pad for both packaging (think wider single piston) as well as being more stable to the rotor and less subject to rotor run out issues- the higher you grab the rotor the greater the deflection, if any, will be had. When Ford decided to increase the size of the ST's front rotors from approximately 12.6" to 13.2" , they did it in the middle of a model year, causing a split in the 2014 model year as to which size rotors are equipped. StopTech's Slotted Front Rotors and Slotted Rear Rotors feature exclusive Vac-U-Slots that are machined into the rotor and help evacuate gasses and dust, shed heat, and keep the brake pad surface clean which is especially helpful in wet weather conditions.
